ndnickerson: (legend of the seeker)
so, now that i've finished the entirety of the sword of truth series (for now, anyway, and not including debt of bones), are there any post-series tags for the books? i'm having a hard time finding any book-based fic at all.

granted, that won't stop me from writing it or anything.

(also apparently there's going to be another richard and kahlan book published next year? if i had any say in it i'd request at least half of it be sex, but i won't be so lucky, i know.)

fortnight!

Dec. 29th, 2009 08:39 pm
ndnickerson: (all i want is johnny depp)
+(i have had "fuck you fucking shark! fortnight!" in my head for far too long and since no one else seems to have that particular demetri martin album, no one knows what i'm talking about.)

+Sweet Lord i lost my mind while shopping today. haul:
-three prelit outdoor garlands, a velvet bow, a butterfly ornament, a tabletop tree decorated with pinecones, and wide ribbon for next year's decorating, since there was a sale.
-two bath bombs from lush (one is seaweed and the other is GLITTER. i was delighted.) and the friend i took there gave me some body wash because it was buy-one, get-two-free.
-alias seasons 1 and 2, damages season 1, veronica mars season 1 (i let a friend borrow it along with season 2 and it's been a year), public enemies on blu-ray, fired up! (i know. I KNOW. i just think it's hilarious, if INCREDIBLY stupid.) on dvd.
-used bookstore: library of america crime novels of the 1930s and 40s, library of america crime novels of the 1950s (they include the talented mr ripley and the postman always rings twice and the killer inside me and WOW, and the cashier who also owns the place chuckled when he saw me with them and said "i knew somebody would get these pretty quick, these are awesome and they look so clean"), a perry mason, a nancy drew (it's stained and cost 25 cents but i had to adopt it), and two willo davis roberts books, all for like $23

what did i plan on buying when i left the house? public enemies.

have i lost it? need you ask?

+because i'm anal:
i wrote 2 yuletide stories (i'm working on 2 more but i guess they'll be NYRs). between them: 347 hits, 23 comments, 10 bookmarks. haven't counted the recs. i'm happy. =D

let's play a game for summerfest this year: give me a specific lyric as a possible title, a fandom, and a scenario, and i'll come up with a fic. crossovers are fine.

fandoms you can choose from: nancy drew, chuck, law & order criminal intent, pushing daisies, x-files, lois & clark, big bang theory, perry mason. anything else, you can ask. and if none of the lyrics there are your cup of tea, you can try these (click discography). and, well, i'll just leave this open for the rest of the summer, if anyone actually wants to participate, so through september 1.

--

-saw mst3k: zombie nightmare for the first time last night. wow, that was... something, huh? although now i want an icon of mike and servo dressed as batman and robin.

-went to the used bookstore today, got a couple of norton critical editions (the awakening and the wings of the dove, if i'm not mistaken), a dashiell hammett omnibus, a tom swift (mostly because it had a 1937 inscription and that wonderful old-book smell) and a 25-chapter matte yellow-spine nancy drew. and promptly packed them for the impending move.

-i have 3 dreamwidth codes, if anyone wants one.

--

ETA: the links above are for my morning jacket and interpol lyrics, but as everyone seems to be just picking random lyrics, hey, that's cool. i mean, you know, if you also want to give me some my morning jacket or interpol lyrics, that would be neat as well. you know, "IF you're their secret santa." [sorry, mst3k: the touch of satan reference. i've been watching a lot lately.]

Take no more than 15 minutes to produce a list of 15 books that have influenced you in style, ideas, relationships, language, or other ways that you find important, and/or books that have really stayed with you -- you keep thinking of that quote, you are always remembering that character, you are frequently reminded of that moment.... that kind of thing.
