anyone else have this problem?

1. OH MAN I HAVE AN IDEA FOR A NEW STORY! It would be an AU futurefic.
2. THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME.
3. But it's AU enough that I could eliminate the canon references and make it an original fic.
4. But... the scenario doesn't have enough plot to make it interesting if it isn't fanfic.
5. So I need more plot.
6. BUT IT SOUNDS SO UNORIGINAL AS ORIGINAL FIC.
7. Also I love the fandom characters so much that I'm super invested if I'm writing about them. It's not nearly as exciting with original characters.
8. But it could be. If I bring in that other fandom element and tweak it enough to make it original.
9. But what if no one wants to read it unless it's fanfic.
10. OH GOD WHAT SHOULD I DO.

Rinse and repeat.

Now, you know I feel you with this...And the answer is that you should write that story, because I will always want to read anything that you write. The end.

It's a conundrum! I just hope I don't abandon the idea entirely because I haven't seen it done before (in fandom, anyway). I'll have to write it down somewhere. :)

Also, as a side note - do you want me to make you some icons? If you have any particular covers in mind or if you want to steal any of the ones I made under my old account (tiscwslabmuz), let me know/feel free. ;) I've gotten better with brightening/coloring over time... or at least, I think I have. The ones linked below are pretty old.
