hmm.

bear with me.

okay, so let's go with the N-jump theory of time.

-A: 1977-2007 happened. the dharma initiative came to the island. charlotte's family was part of the group that came to the island. she did not meet daniel in the past because he did not go back in time, as this is the unadulturated timeline. eloise and charles widmore conceived daniel faraday, who survived without incident. sayid did not shoot ben as a child. as far as we know, the incident did happen, as the dharma initiative was on the island and doing construction without outside influence.

-B: the time flashes took those on the island back in time. daniel talked to charlotte as a child, but after a different series of events [since in this timeline the oceanic 6 are not also in the past], went to the others and was shot by his mother. miles and/or daniel revealed to dr chang that miles was his child and he was meant to send his wife and child and others off the island. sayid did not shoot ben as a child, because sayid does not go back in this timeline. in 2007, the oceanic 6 return to the island in 1977. this changes time again.

-C: the oceanic 6 end up back in 1977. daniel talks to charlotte because he knows he already did and goes with jack and kate into the jungle to find his mother, who then shoots him, as she was destined to do. sayid shoots ben as a child.

oh KILL ME.

was daniel always destined to die by his mother's hand? guess it depends on whether we're going with fixed time or a loop. we're in what looks like the third version of this history, which means jack and kate could theoretically stop the incident which would stop their own plane crash, which would put them in a time where they remember a history that hasn't actually happened. however, if we're in a loop, jack and kate have already attempted, and failed, to change this, otherwise they wouldn't be able to attempt to fix it. if they succeed we have to be in an N-jump.

watch there be some quasi-logical explanation that ignores all this. also because abc's timing is always off compared to the DVR, i missed the part between daniel telling richard he needed to see ellie, and ellie shooting him. dammit.

daniel is/was my favorite lost character of all time.
i kind of felt sick to my stomach.
what a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE death. and i mean horrible because it was just such a shitty way to kill someone.
i honestly don't know how i feel about all of this. but i did manage to cry an insane amount over this entire ordeal. :(

god what I really hated was the fact that Kate's first question was, "How are you going to do that?" as opposed to the more obvious, "WHAT THE FUCK WILL HAPPEN TO US?"

because I feel like that's fairly important, and now that Faraday is gone they really have no idea what will happen. Dumbasses.

I cannot follow this show anymore. Why the hell did Eloise need to kill her son? Why does she have all the answers? Also, when is the island going to start killing babies? Does it have something to do with Daniel's death? I am guessing that he was conceived on the island...

I really, really hope that this was the major character death they have been talking about since the beginning of time because I really cannot handle another death this season.

I was in love with quirky Daniel Faraday, can't believe they killed him off. I really hope the lost writers will let us know more about his failed plan!

Lost has done a pretty good job this season of slowly completing a jigsaw puzzle backwards, but this episode reverting to leaving more incomprehensible questions than ever. Although Daniel was my favorite character; they did a poor job of exploring his backstory.
