1. Pick your 5 favorite OTPs (One True Pairings)
2. Find pictures and post them
3. Give the name of the OTP and what fandom they're from
4. List your favorite moment between them
5. Tag 5 people to do this meme (yeah, whoever'd like to do it, knock yourselves out.)

01. chuck, chuck bartowski and sarah walker

hmm. it's hard to pick a favorite moment for these two, because there's so many and yet so few to choose from. right now i'd have to go with their kissing practice for roan montgomery. they so clearly want each other, and yet they can't be together. yet. i like the thought that maybe chuck kept one of their fake wedding pictures, either in hope for the future or because he knows it can never be.

02. nancy drew files, nancy drew and ned nickerson

i had to pick this cover because a) it looks like a romance novel, b) it is my favorite files of all time EVER and almost always appears on my list of my favorite books of all time, and c) it clearly looks like ned is about to grope her in public. he doesn't have an arm wrapped around her waist; he is reaching for her fly. i was positively, mouthwateringly scandalized the first time i saw this cover, totally breathless with the sheer scandalous... gloriousness of it. my favorite moment from this book is when they are making up after their fight and they kiss until she's breathless, and when they let each other go... oh dammit, let me quote. (and i opened right to this page, too. IT IS FATE.)

"At the door of the Theta Pi house, Ned took Nancy in his arms and gave her the kind of hug that made her think that everything was all right. Relieved, she lifted her face to his for a kiss. As they clung together for several minutes, their kiss went well beyond making up. Nancy felt limp in his strong grasp, powerless to do anything other than continue the long embrace. When they finally let each other go, it was slowly, reluctantly."

needless to say, my alternate ending to this scene would have them end up in bed. and when i read this, it was eye-poppingly sensual, far beyond anything nancy and ned had ever done before. much more than their vague allusions to some time spent in the hot tub during their ski trip, or "hours" of ned "teaching" nancy "chess."

otherwise, my favorite moment is in the original texts, when ned very clearly implies to nancy that he intends to ask her to marry him one day.

03. perry mason, perry mason and della street

i guess i just really like couples who are doomed to never be together. kind of. although this pic is from the tv series, i adore the novels, and my favorite moment is from Case of the Half-Wakened Wife. perry and della are trying to figure out the solution to the mystery; they end up sharing a kiss, and he proposes to her. and she, as every time he proposes, turns him down, afraid that if she were to marry him and run his household, he would replace her in the office, and she would no longer be able to share in his adventures, and he'd lose his interest in her. and maybe she's right, but i always wish that there was a weekend she just went with it. even better: a secret marriage, and she gets the best of both worlds. because they are always so perfect for each other.

04. lois & clark: the new adventures of superman, lois lane and clark kent

i wanted to find a pic of clark in the black suit (because SWEET JESUS), but honestly, this is better, because he's clark (sans glasses) and lois has her pretty hair instead of the sometimes bizarre haircut she was sporting around the time of the faked alien abduction and clone debacle. i absolutely love lois and clark. one of my favorite moments is when clark has been exposed to a kryptonian virus, he's sick and on the verge of death, and lois stays by his side even as her father has to pretty much kill him to save him.

also, have i mentioned the black suit? because it bears mentioning again.

05. x-files, mulder and scully

i actually had this poster up in my high school dorm room. i'm pretty sure i still have it, somewhere. it's better than any of the grainy blurry low-lit frustrating shots of them sharing meaningful glances and/or making out, and it's so damn sexy. my favorite moment between them is quite probably their bee-interrupted kiss in his apartment hallway during the first movie. glorious.

With hindsight, I'm sure that Della's stall tactics were what kept the flame alive for years. They probably made it to a registry office, or at least to shared accomodations, by their sixties or so.

Then again, I shipped them madly in high school, long before I knew that was what it was called, so I might not be a good person to ask ;)

I think my favo[u]rite moment ever was when Mason took the fortune cookie fortune that Della got and slipped it in his wallet--man, Gardner really knew what he was doing in that department :-D ... You make me want to start reading them from the beginning again, save that (as I recall) the plots are so watertight that they come readily to the memory even after a long absence.

I've seen quite a few of these OTP lists and a very high percentage have Mulder/Scully at or near the top, which is as it should be. I must say, however, yours is the first I've seen with Perry/Della. I don't think I've ever read a Perry Mason book, although your description makes it mighty tempting. Of course I remember the tv show, although I probably shipped Della/Paul Drake so I better not say any more ;)

Also, no Goren/Eames? This makes me sad.

LOL the part about Nancy/Ned is hilarious. I don't know if I should admit this, but I've read very few of the Files books - the original series just had a charm that I enjoyed. But this made me crack up:

much more than their vague allusions to some time spent in the hot tub during their ski trip, or "hours" of ned "teaching" nancy "chess."

incredible.

omg that was an awesome moment as well. and yes, now that i have all the novels (i think the only book i'm missing is one of the short-story ones), i really do want to read them all over again. and yeah, often when the villain is introduced, i remember that it was him, but that never ruins it for me. i guess 'cause i'm there for the perry/della ust. ;)

'cause i'm weird. ;) i didn't actually rank these. they ended up kind of in alphabetical order. and on the show i can understand shipping della/paul, but in the books it's so totally perry/della. and i highly recommend the books.

i really do believe i need to make a second otp list. and i'm relatively new to the goren/eames shipdom, believe it or not.

i forgive you for not having read many files. i agree, the originals do have this... quality, that none of the other series seem to have.

but yeah. they *tell* us of these alleged "chess" lessons, but do we get to see them? no. maybe even back then, they were leaving holes for fanfic. ;)

(although i did read an interview with one of the files ghostwriters who admitted that she disliked writing romantic scenes, so she ended up putting ned in a semi-coma just so she wouldn't have to include him in the story. even though nancy's scenes with ned in that book are very sweet, if i do say so myself.)

isn't it? i was delighted to find one that didn't look photoshopped, like a few of their wedding pics clearly did. =D

i'll be honest with you: if you haven't finished, i'd recommend stopping at the end of season 7, and then watching the two-hour series finale. just because i have watched all of s8 and practically all of s9 and now i prefer to pretend that they didn't happen. which sounds horrible of me. maybe i shouldn't recommend that. ;)

I so love the Nancy/Ned part! Hilarious, it managed to put a smile on my face even after the evilness the day has brought me so far. I do love this file, I always love when there is tension in the Nancy/Ned relationship (which in fairness is pretty often). But I don't think it would rate in my top three of Nancy Drew files, but possibly in my top five. Okay, I am sounding obsessed!

Nancy and Ned...my preference is the 36 original texts. Best scene ever was when he rescued her in The Clue in the Old Attic after all the angst when he invited another girl to the big dance. Best illustration is the frontispiece of a first edition Secret of the Wooden Lady - published in 1950 so Ned and Nancy have a very film noir look and he's actually smoking.

just out of interest's sake, what file did this ghostwriter write?

you mean the giant spider rescue? that book was incredibly trippy compared to the rest of them, i always thought, especially with nancy's preoccupation with ned's dance partner.

and i am DYING to track down a first edition of wooden lady for that exact reason, i am fascinated by that cigarette in his hand. i've even bid on a few, only to have snipers outbid me, which makes me want to become one myself. since i'm having so little luck otherwise.

Off the top of my head, I would say
1. Death by Design
2. Two Points to Murder
3. Murder on Ice
4. Deep Secrets
5. Fatal Attraction

Sorry, I thought you meant she put him in a metaphorical semi-coma (aka have him being kind of bland) but she actually put him in a real, physical coma. I love the control these ghostwriters have - e.g I don't feel like writing a character or don't want to get involved in the lovey-dovey stuff so I'll put poor Ned in a coma. Although it was a pretty sweet file, so I'll forgive her.
