ndnickerson: (addams thanksgiving)
My sister and brother-in-law are visiting, and they eat carbs, so we did have a few normal things (Stovetop stuffing, cloverleaf [brown and serve] rolls, sweet potato souffle, macaroni and cheese, jellied cranberry sauce) but I didn't eat any of the "full-carb" dishes.

Our menu:
-Roasted turkey (which Mom just does however she wants every year, and it includes salt, pepper, butter, poultry seasoning if we have it, and a light dusting of flour)
-Spiral sliced ham
-Sausage and sage stuffing (which requires 8 slices of Atkins Cuisine bread)
-Cauliflower-Sour Cream Mash
-Atkins Cornbread
-Steamed broccoli
-Cran-raspberry sauce
-Deviled eggs (made southern style)
-Maple Pecan Pie

I haven't tried the pecan pie yet, but Dad said it was good.

I made the pie, boiled the eggs, and made the Atkins Cuisine bread last night - and ended up getting to bed at 4 a.m. What have I learned? Nothing, really. The stuffing was just a touch wetter than I usually want it, so I'll cut down on the chicken broth next time, but on the whole, everything was excellent this year. I'm so glad the Atkins bake mix got here yesterday.

Hope everyone who is celebrating is having a good one! :) If not, happy Thursday!

had a bacon cheeseburger (minus the bun) for lunch and sashimi for dinner - tuna, salmon, red snapper, octopus, tamago, and surf clam. it was really good, although i had way too much wasabi with the first bite and thought my head was going to catch on fire. whew. also, one of the things in there (wasn't the tuna, salmon, or octopus, and probably wasn't the red snapper; it was yellow and had an almost spongy consistency) was really delicious.

Atkins bar reviews!
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough - Not bad, but I want to put it in vanilla ice cream.
Chocolate Hazelnut Bar - HELL YES, but I love Nutella.
Caramel Chocolate Nut Rolls - YES. Although I was a bit iffy on them because I ate one right before I got sick once, but they're awesome.
Caramel Chocolate Peanut Nougat Bar - Pretty good.
Caramel Double Chocolate Crunch Bar - DAMNED GOOD
Dark Chocolate Almond Coconut Crunch Bar - DAMNED GOOD
Blueberry Almond Baked Square - Pretty good, but considering the carb count, not really worth it given how small it is.
Chocolate Chip Crisp Bar - HELL YES.
Cinnamon Bun Bar - Just like a real cinnamon bun, I only want about half of it and the rest is so incredibly sweet.
Cranberry Almond Bar - HELL YES.
Peanut Butter Fudge Crisp Bar - Damned good.
Caramel Nut Chew Bar - Pretty good.
Chocolate Caramel Mousse Bar - Good.
Chocolate Coconut Bar - HELL YES but I love coconut.
Nutty Fudge Brownie - HELL YES, it tastes like one of those Little Debbie brownies.
Peanut Butter Cups - HELL YES. I REALLY want to try this in ice cream.

Hi LJ! I'm sorry, I've been cheating on you with tumblr. But don't worry, I'll (probably) always come home to you.

I went on vacation for July 4 and hung out with my sister for a week. I got a lot of writing done (for those of you on the [livejournal.com profile] het_bigbang filter, you won't get to see Part 6 until the entire story is published, although that part is done) and jumped in the waves and bought swim goggles and four dresses.

Three and a half of them are my sister's fault. I need a belt for one (maybe theoretically I don't but it comes with a belt that I don't really like that much so I need a new one). Two of them look very retro/Mad Men. Then I started thinking about shoes...

Which is why, a few minutes ago, I bought two pairs of sale shoes from nine west.

One of the pairs, in the photos, looks like peep-toe ruby slippers.

This fills me with glee.

My sister also started putting bare minerals on me, so now I'm intrigued, but I'll probably wait a while to try it.

I've reached one of my major weight loss goals (I'm down more than 30 lbs!) and I've gone down to my old bra size! Now I'm in a 38C! Hooray! Just a little while longer and maybe I'll be able to get back to my goal bra size.

And I found this great recipe for low-carb stuffed bell peppers.

Best purchase I've ever made? Nearly.
