So, at first, I was intrigued, but I'm a little weird; I found NBC's initial promos for Chuck too intrusive. (I ABHOR the ads that pop out from their cubbyholes onto the screen, necessitating my finding the [X] CLOSE button to read what I came for, and there was Zachary Levi, meandering across my screen!) I was skeptical that I'd like the show, given the outlandish premise. And then my mother watched the premiere, and by sheer chance I happened to be watching SciFi that Saturday night, and after the show I was watching went off, the Chuck pilot encored, and I left it there, and watched.

And immediately, against my will, against my bias, I was hooked.

So Chuck went on the DVR and I watched it live every Monday, even though by then I wasn't watching Heroes, so that wasn't the reason. I was bummed when the writer's strike cut Season 1 short, and I asked for (and received) Chuck Season 1 on DVD for Christmas.

I absolutely love Chuck. There are some things I want to do (give Chuck some rudimentary spy lessons, teach him how to handle if not shoot a gun, place a subcutaneous GPS transmitter in him that only Sarah can track) but it's like this entire season has been building until now, it's gone beyond what it was, and it reminds me of how fantastically awesome Alias was before it went nuts. Except Chuck does what I'd do in those situations, and Sarah reminds me of what Nancy would be if she had been raised by a con artist instead of Carson and had no Ned, and Casey is awesome. And I desperately want Sarah and Chuck to get together, but I don't want it to be thrown away in some lame one-off, so I'm glad it's been gestating for so long. And it's utterly ripe for angst and forbidden love and drama, and they don't take the easy way out, and even when they do take the easy way out, they make it work. Against all odds.

So, that's why my hand is aching right now; I just handwrote two letters to send to the folks at NBC, to tell them I want Chuck to stay on the air for another season or three. I'll be participating in the Finale & a Footlong program, too. And I'll be sitting in front of the television for the next two Mondays, at 8pm, with big eyes and total silence in the room, except for when I laugh at something Casey says or when I gasp at some pre-commercial cliffhanger.

Damn, I hope they don't cancel this show. I really, really do. It is toooo damn fantastic. And it is so very fanfictastic.

(Also I just added this fantastic icon made from the preview for next week, but it seems a bit spoilery, so check out my last icon if you've already seen the preview.)

seriously, if chuck is cancelled i will be so upset.
there's no need for it. its a great show with not only a great cast, but it's loved by critics and (although not an extremely vocal fanbase), an impressive fanbase.
i think the only thing that would crush it right now is jay leno eating up 5 crucial primetime hours for nbc. FAIL. seriously, FAIL nbc. >:/

That last icon of yours? WIN.

Why the hell did NBC think that five hours of Jay Leno was a good idea? Josh Schwartz better have enough clout to convince everyone that Chuck deserves a third season (if it means taking it to CW, so be it. I'll just pray for the lack of tweenie drama if they do move.)

It was also suggested that we send in packets of Nerds candy.

I'm considering it.
